It’s hard to believe the holidays are over. The Holiday Party was again a special time for all. Many thanks to all who made 2004 so much fun, all the teachers, designers, and stitchers. Let’s make 2005 as much fun!
We started the new year with a wonderful sale on January 1. Thanks to all of you who helped – especially Tamara, Heather, Ruth, Margi, and Emily. Thanks also to all of those who cleaned out their stashes and those who purchased to enhance their stash. The day was a huge success, bringing us over $570. For those unable to join us, look for another sale in the future.
We want your input for our 2005 UFO program so be sure to fill out the survey and return it to Tamara. Two other interest sheets will be distributed at the January meeting. The first will show your interest in Group Correspondence Courses. We plan to have a teacher and workshop in 2005; the second interest sheet will determine the type of workshop media and technique.
Happy stitching to all. Karen
Be sure to turn in your volunteer service hours to Ina Gibson, our Regional Rep. These hours are vital in helping EGA maintain its non-profit status. All volunteer hours count, even if for an organization other than EGA.
Thanks to everyone !!
Tamara Willis is accepting input for the 2005 UFO program. It is planned to be similar to the 2004 program, where each project was worth a certain number of points. The plan is not to request a “guesstimate” of stitches on finished projects as it was tricky to try to figure out. We are sure the guesstimated stitches were much less than the amount that were really stitched.
More information on U.F.O.’s will be forthcoming.
You have noticed our membership dues have increased in 2005 to $42 for regular members and $20 for plural members. It has been more than five years since our last increase. Over the next year, the Pacific Southwest Region is increasing their contribution required from each chapter member. The chapter’s recent increase is fixed for at least the next five years. We hope that all members will plan to continue their memberships and that no hardship is created by the increase.
- February’s meeting will be a follow-up on the American Berry Sampler originally presented last summer. Karen Krampe will give more information on various historical stitches.
- This year we have reserved the Clairemont Community Room for the Fifth Mondays as well as the first, third and fourth. January is the first month with five Mondays – so please come and join in the stitching fun.
- The Clairemont Community Center has gratefully accepted our gift of a window information sign. We all thank Gloria Fedor for finding and purchasing the sign, with a good supply of extra letters, so the Center’s messages can be updated as necessary.
- Although we were able to distribute a lot of the huge number of donated items in the While Elephant Sale / Opportunity Baskets / Silent Auction, a large amount remains. The Board is discussing another opportunity for members and visitors to increase their stash – and to support the chapter. Keep watching this newsletter for information on the next time for shopping.
- Grab a bite with other members before the monthly meetings, at Troy’s restaurant in the Clairemont Square Shopping Center. Troy’s is at the end of the driveway in front of the Community Room, on the opposite side of the driveway.
- Don’t forget to support the businesses that advertise in our chapter newsletter! Let them know you are a member of Muchas Manos and appreciate their support. In this month’s newsletter, our advertisers were: Fabrication, Framesmith, Needle Nook of La Jolla, Needlecraft Cottage, Needlepoint of La Jolla, Sandy’s Finishing Touches, Stitcher’s Treasures, and The Black Sheep.
